Following New York’s 5-3 loss to Pittsburgh in game 1 of doubleheader Wednesday manager Aaron Boone shared his thoughts on Gerrit Cole start by saying “I thought Gerrit was really good again,”“I thought [he] had everything going, both [his] slider and curveball were a factor. His changeup was good for the most part -- probably not his best one to Gonzalez. … He was efficient, had swing-and-miss going. You’d like that to be the story, of how good he was again. If we could have got it going a little more offensively, but [we] just didn’t kick it enough.”
Though,
Aaron Boone wasn’t the one to share his thoughts on Gerrit Cole’s start as Gerrit Cole himself did as well by saying It was a good step forward, for sure,”“All things considered, it’s been really good throughout the whole year. But we’re always trying to fine-tune and just keep getting a little bit better. So we’re staying on that trend.”
Though,
Gerrit Cole wasn’t the only player to share his thoughts about Gerrit Cole’s start as Ben Rice who hit 3-run home to even the game at 3-3 did as well by saying Any time your starting pitcher looks like he’s in a groove out there, it helps ease everybody up,With that being said, we’re always hoping to get as many runs as we can.”

Though, De La Cruz wasn’t the one to share his thoughts on facing left handed pitching following Philadelphia’s 9-5 loss to Los Angeles as interim manager Don Mattingly did as well by saying It is something that I'm thinking about and looking at because, obviously, the numbers haven't been great against the lefties,”I've liked some of the at-bats early, but that seems to have been a battle as we went on.”
