NC State Is Hosting UAB Friday Night In Raleigh

NC State is hosting UAB Friday night in Raleigh.

Where?

On the hardwood!

NC State is a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference while UAB is a member of American Athletic Conference!

NC State comes into the game with record of 1-0 because they got their first win under Head Coach Will Wade Monday a 114- 66 win in North Carolina’s state capital. Darrion Williams who is a forward 7-10 on field goals to go along 4 rebounds, 8 assists, 19 points. Vin -Allen Luban who is a forward a senior was 4-4 on field goals to go along 6 rebounds , 1 assists , 1 steal to go along with 10 points. Tre Hollaman who is a senior a guard was 5-8 on field goals to go along 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, 15 points Paul McNeil Jr. was 5-10 on field goals to go along with 3 rebounds , 1 steal , 1 steal, 16 points. Quadier Copeland who is a guard a senior was 3-3 on field goals to go along 2 rebounds, 3 assists , 2 steals , 15 points. Jerry Deng who is a forward a junior was 3-8 on field goals to go along with 4 rebounds, 2 assists , 12 points. Matt Able who is a freshman a guard was 5-11 on field goals to go along with 6 rebounds, 4 assists , 2 steals, 14 points.

Following NC State’s 114-66 win over North Carolina Central Monday in North Carolina’s state capital Will Wade who is NC State’s new Head Coach who replaced Kevin Keatts had this to say about what he tells his players!

I tell our players all the time we drink from a good well , but there’s a lot of good people that dug it . There’s a lot of hard work that made this program what it is.

I thought the atmosphere was phenomenal and our fans were great . Our students were awesome . The students bring a ton of energy and a ton of juice . Our pep band is good . It’s huge . We just got good energy in the building . Credit to our guys . You have to embrace that , and you have to be able to use that channel in its proper way. . I thought we channeled for the good of the team tonight

UAB also won there first game of the season on Monday a 106-55 win over Mississippi Valley State where one player scored in double figures. Michael James who is a guard was 6-18 on field goals to go along 3 rebounds , 2 assists , 4 steals.

Following UAB win over Mississippi Valley State Head Coach Andy Kennedy had this to say about Jacob Meyer! He shoots with his right hand more than his left hand . I’ve seen in my life . Anybody got David Copperfield’s number I wonder if he could hypnotize him is Copperfield still doing his thing.

The game is going to be televised on ACC Network with Mike Corey, Debbie Antonelli commentating!

Mike Corey is a college sports play-by-play commentator for ESPN and has been with the network since 2011. He calls college football and has worked games in every FBS conference and has done over 15 bowl games throughout his career. During college basketball, he calls games featuring Top 25 teams, the Atlantic 10 Friday night matchups on ESPN2 and the American Athletic Conference games on ESPN, plus multiple conference championship games and the NIT.

In the spring, Corey primarily calls men’s and women’s college lacrosse, including first round and quarterfinal round games during the NCAA Tournament, and has been the studio host on ESPN for the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse semifinals and championship game. He also broadcast the softball and baseball regionals and has called a pair of NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship games as well.

In addition to his ESPN career, Corey has been the voice of NBC’s Summer Olympic Field Hockey coverage for three Olympics (2016 Rio, 2012 London, 2008 Beijing). He has called five Olympics in total, including the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics and the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics for Westwood One Radio as the play-by-play voice for speedskating. He also called three NCAA women’s basketball regional finals for the network as well.

While at NBC, he has done play-by-play for college football, basketball, lacrosse, rugby and MMA. He has also worked games for CBS and Fox during his television career which began back in 2002 on Comcast Sportsnet (now NBC Sports), NESN and MASN.

His professional broadcasting career began right after graduating from college as he was hired to be the Voice of the Delaware Blue Hens on the radio, a position he held from 1999-2012. During that time, he was a three-time winner for Delaware Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association and is a four-time winner of Best Presentation and Sports Play-By-Play by the Delaware Press Association.

In the spring of 2022, Corey became a professor at the University of Delaware, teaching a class on TV Sportscasting for the Communications department, which he now does twice a year. He is still active in the community and has helped with various non-profit organizations, including the SL24 Foundation for Mental Health Awareness, Special Olympics Delaware, Autism Delaware, and the Delaware Kids Fund.

Corey was born and raised in Brattleboro, VT and graduated with a B.A. in Communications from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 1999.

Hall of Famer Debbie Antonelli is a men’s and women’s college basketball analyst for ESPN and ACC Network and one of the most influential voices in the women’s game as a standout player, marketing executive and broadcaster for nearly four decades.

Throughout her 36-year career as a television and radio analyst, Antonelli has called women’s and men’s college basketball for ESPN, ACC Network, Longhorn Network and SEC Network, as well CBS Sports, Fox Sports, RAYCOM Sports, Big Ten Network, NBA TV and Westwood One. She has also served as a WNBA analyst since the league’s inception, including a combined 23 years with the Indiana Fever and Charlotte Sting, and she currently provides WNBA content to ESPN’s Daily Wager.

In addition to annually calling NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament games for ESPN, Antonelli became the first woman in 21 years to call an NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament game when she worked first-round games in 2017, a role she has occupied ever since for CBS and Turner Sports.

Overall, Antonelli averages 80 national college basketball broadcasts per season.

A Cary, N.C., native, Antonelli attended college in her home state at N.C. State University, where she graduated with a double major in business management and economics in 1986. Antonelli was a three-year starter for the ACC champion Wolfpack women’s basketball team under legendary coach Kay Yow. NC State participated in the NCAA Tournament each of Antonelli’s four years, making two Sweet 16 appearances, and she was part of the historic 1984-85 team which swept the ACC regular season and ACC Tournament titles.

After receiving a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Ohio University and serving as a Graduate Assistant in basketball, Antonelli became the first Director of Marketing at the University of Kentucky where she created and broadcasted the first women’s basketball games on TV at UK. She then moved to a similar position at The Ohio State University as Director of Marketing and Licensing for the Buckeyes where she was responsible for creating a women’s basketball network so games would air on local television. She also served as the Buckeyes’ radio analyst for eight years broadcasting the 1993 Final Four run by the women’s basketball team.

Antonelli has received numerous accolades throughout her pioneering career, including two Emmy Awards and a Gracie Award. Antonelli was inducted in the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022 and the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in 2021. The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) awarded her the 2007 Mel Greenberg Award as the professional who has best displayed commitment to advancing the role of the media in promoting women’s basketball. And most recently, College Sports Communicators named her the 2023 Jake Wade Award recipient, presented annually to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution in the media to intercollegiate athletics. She was inducted into NC State Women’s Basketball Ring of Honor in 2024.

Among her many philanthropic endeavors and community involvement, Antonelli is a lifetime board member of the nonprofit Kay Yow Cancer Fund, with other board service for the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, Naismith Trophy Award boards and Special Olympics South Carolina Board of Directors.

Antonelli is involved with Special Olympics and a Unified Partner in several sports including basketball and golf. In Charleston, S.C., she is one of the founders of the Buddy Walk, which celebrated 20 years in 2023. She hosts the annual fundraiser 24Hours Nothing But Net (24HoursNBN.com), a 24-hour free throw shooting marathon to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics. In six years, the fundraiser for Special Olympics expects to surpass the $1 million mark in May 2024. The mother of three boys, Antonelli’s middle son Frankie is a young adult living with Down syndrome and a recent graduate of the ClemsonLife Program. Antonelli is also a national spokesperson and parent advocate for special education.
