Following Wake Forest 70-57 loss to NC State on Wednesday December 31, 2025 Head Coach Steve Forbes shared his thoughts by saying n a positive note, I thought we came in here and did a really good job defensively and guarding their stuff, especially in the half court. Our ball screen defense was pretty good. We could test it. We guarded their personnel, but we just couldn't get anything going offensively, especially with all of the turnovers. They probably scored 11 points on atomic bomb turnovers. They were 12-for-26 at the rim and we were 5-for-27 from three during most of the game until we made three there late. We also went 9-for-13 from the line. That's just impossible to come back from. That's what is frustrating
"I thought that Will [Wade's] team did a really good job of switching us one through five. We don't have enough guys that are willing or trying to get in the paint off of dribbles. We were just station to station, around the horn, instead of getting in there, either off the drive or off some mismatches. Their physical defensive team turned us over, and a lot of those turned into points. I thought the start of the second half just killed us. I felt pretty good at halftime. We had that nice comeback at the end of the first, and then we came out and couldn't score. That just put us in a hole. Coming in here, we thought that if we could hold them to 70 points, because they score a lot of points in this building, we'd have a really good chance to win. But, our offense just didn't get it done. I say that crediting NC State and Will and his team. They're tough, they're physical defensively and they turned defense into offense the way we kind of like to do it. They just did it better than us."

Following Wake Forest 80-76 overtime loss to Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Steve Forbes shared his thoughts by saying "Congrats to Jeff [Capel] and his team for a hard fought win. I thought they played a lot more aggressive in the second half. They had a better pace on offense. They got on us on the glass. They turned us over. Those were big plays for them. I knew coming into the game, offensive rebounding was going to be an issue because it's been an issue for us all year long. It's disappointing to go on the road and have almost half their points come from second chances and on turnovers. We held them to shooting 38 percent in their building and 30 percent from three. You would think that you'd have a pretty good shot to win, but we just didn't make enough plays, and that's on me as a coach. We have to execute better in those situations and I have to do a better job coaching my team. A perfect example of that would be the side out. I think we're up four in regulation. We had run the same play earlier and I thought we had a really good look out of it. We didn't throw it, so I went back to it. We just couldn't get it inbounded, they turned us over and they got an easy basket. Then, the last play where we got the ball, it's a play we run a lot to get downhill. Sebastian [Akins] has gotten downhill on it many times, but we didn't and we didn't get a good shot. That's on the coaches and me for not getting them in a good position. Our job is to put them in position to be successful. I thought they scrapped hard for the game, but at the end of the day, we gave up 20 points on second chances and 17 off turnovers. It's going be hard to win on the road like that."-
