While North Carolina won their 2026-2027 regular season opener I can’t say the same for Wofford who is a member of Southern Conference because they come into the game with North Carolina with record of 0-1 because Wofford lost to eighth ranked Tennessee 90-59 on Tuesday night November 3, 2026 three players scored in double figures . Cam Lowe who is a guard a junior was 5-13 on field goals , 2-7 on 3 pointers , 2-2 on free throws to go along with 4 rebounds, 1 assists 2 turnovers 1 steal,14 points. Cutter Sisk who is a freshman forward was 2-8 on field goals , 1-3 on 3 pointers , 5-9 on free throws to go along with 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 turnover, 10 points. Chris Arias who is a junior was 4-10 on field goals, 2-7 on 3 pointers to go along with 1 rebound , 1 assists , 1 turnover.
As a team Wofford was 19-62 for 31 % on field goals was 6-27 on 3 pointers for 22 % was 15-23 for 65 % on free throws.
Following Wofford’s 90-59 loss to eighth ranked Tennessee Head Coach Kevin Giltner shared his thoughts by saying Hats off to Tennessee, they got a really good team. Coach Barnes is obviously awesome. Snowball effect in the second half, I thought our urgency level wasn’t what it was in the first half.
“In order to get out of here with a win or play well, you’ve got to have urgency for 40 minutes, so I challenged our team with that after the game, but a lot of the credit goes to Tennessee. They came out second half, punched us in the mouth, and we didn’t weather that storm well at all, obviously.
“So got to be better with handling runs, got to be better at having urgency for 40 minutes, but I do like our team, I do like our guys. We got a good team, we just didn’t handle that well tonight and I think a lot of that was credit to Tennessee.”
It’s as obvious as the nose on your face. He’s so physical. He is so physical. I mean, he looks like a defensive end out there on free-throw box (outs_, on his duck-ins under the rim, on his ball screens, on his handoffs, he is so physical. It’s like running into a brick wall when he ducks in. He’s so physical in every single way. I can’t stress that enough, that’s what makes him good. He’s got a great motor, he’s so physical. He’s got long arms, I know he’s only about 6-foot-7, but I’m sure he’s got a seven-foot wingspan. He’s tough, and he’s got a motor, and that usually bodes well in Coach Barnes’ system.”
I thought our shot selection was really good in the first half. I felt like we were living in the paint, and we were spraying out for threes. And then you’re in a better position to rebound. We were shooting what we would call a green, which is a really, really good shot for our offense. In the second half, we did not have that. And some of that was due to Tennessee’s defense. But when your shot selection’s really, really good, it puts you in position to rebound, because you’ve got them in rotation and you’re getting two on the ball here or everybody’s converging on a drive.
We didn’t touch paint enough in the second half to create those rotations to then get those rebounds. We shot a lot of contested one-on-one shots where everybody can just go box out their own man and you don’t have rotational rebounds. So I think a big part of that goes back to your offense.
“Can you get two on the ball and shoot open shots to then have rotational rebounds? We had those in the first half, but they crushed us on the rebounds in the second half, and I think, honestly, that was probably the tale of the game.”

Randolph Chilldress is former Wake Forest guard as well as former Wake Forest Assistant Coach!
Former Demon Deacon All-American basketball player and ACC legend Randolph Childress will enter his 10th season with the Wake Forest athletic department and his ninth season as a member of the basketball staff in 2020-21. He is the lone holdover from the Deacs previous coaching staff.
Childress began his tenure on the Demon Deacon basketball staff in 2012-13 as the program's Director of Player Development. After that season, he has been a member of the Deacs coaching staff since.
Childress joined the basketball staff full-time after serving in an administrative role within the athletic department for one year. Childress, who retired from professional basketball in 2011, was previously Assistant to the Athletic Director with roles in compliance, fundraising and student-athlete mentorship. He played an off-the-court mentorship role with the basketball student-athletes during the 2011-12 season before joining the basketball staff full-time.
One of the most iconic players in Demon Deacon history, Childress had a standout career at Wake Forest from 1990-95. He earned All-American honors as a junior in 1994 and again as a senior in 1995. In 1995, Childress was named ACC Tournament MVP after leading the Deacons to their first conference title in 33 years.

His 2,208 career points rank second in Wake Forest history and his No. 22 jersey hangs in the rafters of the LJVM Coliseum as one of 11 numbers retired by the basketball program.
After a freshman season where he twice earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors, Childress suffered a serious knee injury that sidelined him for the entire 1991-92 season. He came back to earn All-ACC honors in each of his final three seasons on campus, collecting first team honors in 1994 and 1995.
In 1995, he led the Deacons to their first ACC Tournament title since 1962, earning Tournament MVP honors after hitting the game-winning jumper against North Carolina with four seconds remaining in overtime. Childress ended the 1995 ACC Tournament with a combined 107 points scored, breaking the previous Tournament record which had stood for 38 seasons.
Childress was inducted into the Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame in 2011 and was honored as an ACC Tournament Legend during the 2012 conference tournament in Atlanta.
The Washington, D.C. native played professionally for 16 seasons, including two seasons in the NBA with the Portland Trailblazers and the Detroit Pistons. He was selected in first round of the 1995 NBA Draft by Detroit with the 19th overall selection.
Childress went overseas to continue his basketball career and played two seasons in Turkey and one in France before embarking on an extensive career in Italy that began in 2000. He played for various teams in the Italian league, concluding his career with San Severo in 2010-11.
