NC State, 8th Ranked Georgia Tech Seasons Are Going In Opposite Directions, NC State, Georgia Tech Are Opposing Each Other Saturday Night In Raleigh

NC State, 8th ranked Georgia Tech’s seasons are going in opposite directions because NC State is currently on a two game losing streak while Georgia Tech has won every game they’ve played.

NC State is thirteenth in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings comes into the game with Georgia Tech with record of 4-4 1-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference because NC State has lost two straight Atlantic Coast Conference games including a blowout loss a 53-34 loss at Pittsburgh on Saturday October 25, 2025 as NC State defensively surrendered 53 points including six touchdowns. Pittsburgh’s first touchdown came in 1st quarter when running back Ja’Kyrian Turner ran for 1 yard touchdown , Trey Butkowski kicked, made extra point . In the 2nd quarter Pittsburgh extended their on NC State 17-7 . In the 2nd quarter Raphael Williams who is wide receiver caught touchdown pass from quarterback Mason Heintchel, Trey Butkowski kicked, made extra point extending Pittsburgh ‘s lead 24-14 following Hollywood Smothers 65 yard run, Kanoah Vinesett kicked, made extra point getting NC State within 17-14 before Pittsburgh would extend their lead again this time 24-14 on wide receiver Raphael Williams Jr. catch from Mason Heintchel, Trey Butkowski kicked, made extra point before NC State would get within 24-21 on tight end Justin Jolly 59 yard pass from wide receiver Teddy Hoffmann before Pittsburgh would extend their lead 31-21 on wide receiver Kenny Johnson pass from Mason Heintchel,, Trey Butkowski kicked, made extra point. In the 3rd quarter Trey Butkowski kicked, made 31 yard field goal extending Pittsburgh lead over NC State 34-21 before extending once again this time 40-21 on wide Caturus Hicks though, when Pittsburgh went for two the two point coversion would fail before Trey Butkowski would kick, make 35 yard field goal , 43 yard field extending Pittsburgh ‘s lead over NC State 43-21 46-21 . In 4th quarter Teddy Hoffmann would catch 30 yard pass from CJ Bailey , Kanoah Vinesett would kick, make extra point getting NC State within 46-28 though Pittsburgh would go on to extend their lead 53-28 as Ja’Kyrian Turner ran for 6 yard touchdown , Trey Butkowski kicked, made extra point before NC State got the the final say as wide receier Noah Rogers would catch pass from CJ Bailey. Though., it wouldn’t be enough as NC State would go on to lose 53-34.

Following NC State’s 53-28 loss at Pittsburgh on Saturday October 25, 2025 Head Coach Dave Doeren had this to say!

I’m not blaming them. I’m the one that got them ready, so it starts with me, and I told them that in the locker room. We gotta coach better. They gotta play better.”

Georgia Tech comes into the game with NC State with record of 8-0 5-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference is leading the way in the standings because as stated above they’ve won every game they’ve played including their game on Saturday in Atlanta Georgia where they beat Syracuse 41-16 because Syracuse defense couldn’t stop Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King from getting in the end zone. Haynes King accounted for 5 of Georgia Tech’s touchdowns. In the 2nd quarter Haynes King threw 21 yard touchdown to tight end Josh Beetham , Aidan Burr kicked, made extra point giving Georgia Tech a 10-3 lead before Josh Beethem caught a 13 yard pass from Haynes, Aidan Burr kicked, made extra point extending Georgia Tech ‘s lead over Syracuse 17-3 . In the 3rd quarter wide receiver Dean Patterson caught 37 yard pass from Haynes King. In the 3rd quarter Haynes King threw 27 yard pass to Dean Patterson extending Georgia Tech ‘s over Syracuse 27-10 before Haynes King ran for 2 yards touchdown extending Georgia’s lead over Syracuse 34-10 before Haynes King would put the finishing touches on what a fantastic day offensively for him Georgia Tech’s 41-16 win over Syracuse Saturday running for 4 yard touchdown before Aiden Burr kicked, made extra point .

Matt Schumacker is a seasoned play-by-play announcer who joined ESPN in a full-time capacity in August 2024. He has called a variety of sports over his career, including football, basketball, baseball, softball, track and field, swimming, volleyball and soccer.

Prior to joining ESPN, Schumacker worked with FOX Sports and Big Ten Network between 2021-24, where he was a primary voice on Big Ten and Big East College Basketball. Schumacker got his start in the business doing local radio play-by-play for various Minor League Baseball clubs around the country and serving as a sideline reporter for the Big East Digital Network.

Schumacker, a St. Louis native, attended St. Louis University High School and later Butler University where he competed in track and field and studied broadcast journalism. He and his wife, Molly, have two kids, Bella and James.

Former University of Texas and NFL linebacker Sam Acho joined ESPN in 2021 as part of the platform’s comprehensive college football coverage team, now joining play-by-play commentator Roy Philpott and reporter Taylor Davis on ESPN and ESPN2. Prior to his booth analyst role, Acho was a lead studio voice on college football Saturdays on ESPN2 while calling select college football matchups.

In addition to his college football duties, which include regular appearances on SportsCenterGet Up and College Football Live, the Lifetime Longhorn contributes as an NFL analyst across ESPN studio programming. He also contributes to ESPN’s UFL game coverage as an analyst.

Acho’s first book, Let the World See You: How to Be Real in a World Full of Fakes, was released in October 2020. In it he shares lessons from his own life as well as stories from others to reveal how you can overcome your fears and discover your true selves. His second book, Change Starts With You: Following Your Fire to Heal a Broken World, was released in March 2023.

The 2010 Big 12 Male Sportsperson of the Year, Acho played college football at the University of Texas, where he received the William V. Campbell Trophy as college football’s top scholar-athlete, and the NCAA Top VIII award, recognizing the top eight student-athletes in collegiate athletics. Acho was recently inducted into the University of Texas Athletics Hall of Honor.

Acho was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 2011 and played four seasons as a linebacker with the team before signing with the Chicago Bears before the 2015-16 season, spending four years in the Windy City. He concluded his nearly decade-long professional career with stints suiting up for the Buffalo Bills and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Acho is a two-time nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, the league’s only award that recognizes both civic and professional contributions. Acho was also a vice president of the NFL Players Association.

Acho graduated from the business honors program at UT’s McCombs School of Business with a double major in business honors and marketing. He received his MBA at Arizona State’s Thunderbird School of Global Management and is the founder and president of Athletes for Justice, an organization that unites professional and everyday athletes globally to fight injustice. He serves as an ambassador for the International Justice Mission and is also the vice president of Living Hope Christian Ministries, which provides aid to Nigeria through medical mission trips.
